Sleaford Mods - Routine Dean 7" - Red Vinyl

Sleaford Mods - Routine Dean 7" - Red Vinyl

Matador (2014)

I finally received the last three 7"s from the 2013 Matador Singles Going Home Alone series recently.  Though the series had some delays over the past year, I think it all worked out in the end.  I will say that the quality of records was all over the place.  There were a few great records, some average records and a couple of real stinkers.  Sleaford Mods can absolutely be filed under "stinker."

Over a never changing, minimalist riff, The singer from Sleaford Mods just shouts and rants and complains throughout the course of the A-Side "Routine Dean." There's no rhyming, there's no melody.  It's not singing, but it's definitely not rapping.  It just sounds like some guy from the UK rambling incoherently on the side of the road; the kind of guy you would cross the street to avoid walking past.

I guess the B-side is a little better.  At least there's a bit of rhyming in the lyrics for "Pubic Hair LTD."  But if you think a song called "Pubic Hair LTD" is likely pretty stupid, you would be absolutely right.  It's just more pointless rambling,  I know I'm getting older, but I just don't understand records like this.
