Rocket From The Crypt / Biz Markie & Wayne Coyne - Yo Gabba Gabba: I Can't Believe It's Really Happening 7" - Green & Red Vinyl

Volcom (2012)

Today is my Birthday and i can't think of a better post for today than the first brand new Rocket From The Crypt record in ages. This 7" was released in conjunction with the kids show Yo Gabba Gabba and features a new short Rocket From the Crypt song called "He's A Chef." The 7"s were given away via contest or by purchasing a Yo Gabba Gabba shirt from the Volcom website or supposedly at some specific Volcom retailers.

Naturally I entered every email address I had in the contest. In a rare moment where luck actually shined down on me. I won a copy. Since they didn't announce the winner until after the promotion started, I also purchased something from the Volcom store the day it began as well. When I got the email that I actually won a copy, I felt relieved, like I was actually guaranteed a copy. Then hurricane Sandy hit.

I didn't get mail for a bit more than a week and that's when everyone I knew started getting their 7"s. Plus we started to notice a pattern over at the Swami records message board. The folks that ordered a shirt were getting a copy on red vinyl and those that won a copy were getting it on green vinyl. Since I did both, I thought I'd be OK but as the days went on and I didn't get any mail, I started to have a sense of dread. Finally my copy on red vinyl showed up, but my 2nd copy was no where to be seen.

I ended up getting in touch with a great guy over at Volcom. I won't rat out his name so other people don't bother him, but I explained the hurricane issue and how I didn't get a copy and he didn't blink an eye. He immediately just said "OK, no problem," and sent me another copy. I got it a few days ago and it's on green vinyl. Very relieved to have both versions as I have a crazy Rocket From The Crypt collection that I need to keep complete.

One last thing. The red copy I have is numbered /540 copies and the green one is numbered out of /550 copies. I'm not sure if someone labeled them wrong or if each color has a separate numbered pressing. Regardless, I just hope there aren't any more variants of this 7" as I don't think I can take the stress of trying to track down another copy.
